Doing Business with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County
All of the departments of the Forest Preserve Disrict of DuPage County purchase required goods and services in conformance with Illinois state law, state regulation, DuPage County Purchasing Ordinance, related resolutions of the Board of Commissioners, and administrative policies. Requirements of less than $20,000 are made in accordance with established procedures for small-dollar purchases and informal quotations. Formal bids for purchases in excess of $20,000 are advertised in local newspapers and may be listed in the Current Bid Announcements section below. When a supplier is aware of a solicitation, they can contact the appropriate department indicated on the announcement to request that the bid document be mailed. The Forest Preserve Commission reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities.

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is currently seeking bids and proposals on the following projects:
Fleet Services

Two (2) Chevrolet C7500 Medium duty dump trucks with stainless steel dump boxes
You are invited to submit bids for one or both units listed above in accordance with the requirements of this solicitation that are contained herein. Monroe Truck Equipment and Auto Truck Group have been notified of this bid.
Sealed bids will be received and opened on the date listed above at the office of the Fleet Services Division of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, located at 881 W Saint Charles Road, Lombard, IL 60148-2111. Bids must not be sent to the District’s headquarters building, as this will delay the receipt of the bid. Bids must be received at the Fleet Services office by 2:00 PM local time. Bids will be opened at 2:10 PM.
An official authorized to bind the bid must sign the bids. Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope addressed to the attention of the Fleet Services Manager showing due date and time and bid title.
This solicitation does not commit the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County to award a contract, to pay any cost incurred in the preparation of a bid or to procure or contract for the articles of goods or services. The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County reserves the right to cancel in part or in its entirety these bids if it is in the best interest of the District to do so.

Structural Maintenance
Sealed bids for a project entitled "Oak Meadows Banquet Room Lighting Modifications" will be received at the Structural Maintenance Blackwell Shop office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, 29W400 Mack Rd., West Chicago, IL 60185 until 2:30 P.M. Local Time, Wednesday, November 5, 2008. Bids will then be publicly opened and read aloud in the same location at 2:35 P.M. Main components of work include: rewire the existing nine (9) main banquet room light fixtures and rewire to panel. Contractor must provide labor, equipment and supplies, as described in the bid packet. Bids on all work of this contract shall be subject to the provisions of the "Illinois Prevailing Wage Act" (Illinois Revised Statutes, Chapter 48, Section 39S-1-12).
A MANDATORY pre-bid walkthru will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at the Oak Meadows Golf Course Clubhouse, located at 900 N. Wood Dale Rd., Addison, IL.
Consideration of contract award will be made by the District’s Board of Commissioners. Specifications and bid forms may be obtained at the Structural Maintenance office at the above Mack Road address. Natural Resources
Sealed bids for a project entitled “WATERFALL GLEN FOREST PRESERVE, BLUFF SAVANNA – SELECTIVE BRUSH REMOVAL” will be received at the offices of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, P.O. Box 5000, Wheaton, IL 60189-5000 (mailing address) 3 South 580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, IL 60187-8761 (physical address) until 10:30 AM local time, Wednesday, October 22, 2008 and opened at 10:45 AM on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at the Forest Preserve District offices. Consideration of contract award will be made by the District’s Board of Commissioners on approximately November 4, 2008.
The project work will include selectively clearing brush, applying herbicides to cut stumps and burning brush piles on approximately 80 acres in the area known as the Bluff Savanna at Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve, Darien, Illinois. There are multiple project locations within Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve. The successful contractor will be able to identify all native and non-native plant species and have experience applying herbicides and conducting prescribed burns. The work will be limited to the months of November – March.
A mandatory, pre-bid, on site walk through is scheduled for 9:30 AM, Friday. October 10, 2008. Bidder’s attendance at this walk through is mandatory for bid acceptance. The check-in period begins at 9:00 AM at the meeting location. Any representative who is not present and signed in by 9:30 AM and attend the meeting will not be considered as meeting the mandatory pre-bid walk through requirement.

Local Time, Thursday, October 16, 2008. Bids will then be publicly opened and read aloud in the same location at 2:35 P.M.
Main components of work include: changes to main back bar as shown in bid specifications (concrete removal, plumbing, carpentry, and electric). Contractor must provide labor, equipment and supplies, as described in the bid packet. Bids on all work of this contract shall be subject to the provisions of the "Illinois Prevailing Wage Act" (Illinois Revised Statutes, Chapter 48, Section 39S-1-12).

Office of Planning
Sealed bids will be received at the main office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, 3 South 580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, IL 60187 until 10:00 A.M. Friday,October 24, 2008 and will be publicly opened at that time and location, for a project entitled "Mayslake Hall: General Restoration of South Courtyard, Living Room and Solarium". The bids must be accompanied by a 10% bid security.
The scope of the work includes historical and ornamental plaster & paint restoration; cabinet and casework refinishing; custom window and door fabrication and installation; historic zinc-leaded glass window removal, restoration, and reinstallation; fabrication of exterior brick molds at windows and doors; exterior restoration of masonry, stucco, half timbers, and carpentry in the eaves. Contractor qualifications include previous work on restoring historic windows, doors and zinc-leaded glass, on ornamental plaster restoration and on historic masonry restoration. Some of the exterior work will be bid as alternates. Selection of alternates will be based upon available funds.
A mandatory pre-bid meeting for interested contracts will be held at the Mayslake Forest Preserve 1717 W. 31st Street in Oak Brook, IL 60523 on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. Meet at Mayslake Hall in the living room. Consideration of contract award will likely be made on Tuesday, December 2, 2008.
Plans, specifications, and bid forms may be purchased for $20.00 at the above Wheaton main office address, between 8 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. Mon-Fri.
